摘要

起源太空望远镜(Origins Space Telescope)是NASA赞助、供2020年美国天体物理十年巡天评审的四大任务概念研究之一,它将开启红外波段前所未有的发现空间,揭示我们的宇宙起源。本文简要描述OST的关键科学主题与架构。相较以往或计划中的任何任务,OST灵敏度提升高达1000倍,将开启前所未有的发现空间,使我们得以透过充满可能性的红外窗口窥探。OST将从根本上改变我们对宇宙起源的理解——从星系与黑洞的生长,到追踪水的踪迹、邻近类地行星的生命迹象,乃至未曾设想的发现。OST构建为高度适应性强,在应对天体物理众多领域关键科学的同时,将开创红外天文学的新时代。
