摘要
我们提议建造一个 50 千吨规模的液体闪烁体探测器 LENA(低能中微子天文学),作为下一代中微子观测站。Borexino 和 KamLAND 实验的卓越成就展示了液体闪烁体探测器在低能中微子物理中的巨大潜力。LENA 的物理目标包括观测天体物理和地球中微子源,以及研究中微子振荡。在 GeV 能量范围内,对质子衰变的搜索和长基线中微子振荡实验补充了低能项目。基于欧洲和国际研究团队现有的丰富经验,其技术设计已足够成熟,可尽早启动探测器建设。
