NANOGrav 11年数据集:对500Mpc内星系中超大质量黑洞双星的限制

超大质量黑洞双星(SMBHBs)应作为星系并合的結果而在星系核中频繁形成。在亚秒差距间距下,双星成为低频引力波(GWs)的强源,正是脉冲星计时阵列(PTAs)的探测目标。我们利用北美纳赫兹引力波天文台(NANOGrav)11年数据集中近期关于连续引力波的上限,对邻近大质量星系中假想的SMBHBs施加约束。我们编制了本地宇宙(直至红移约0.05)约44,000个星系的综合星表,并假设双星总质量等于由全局标度关系导出的SMBH质量,用假想双星填充它们。假设在NANOGrav最灵敏频率8nHz处辐射的圆形等质量双星,我们发现216个星系位于NANOGrav的灵敏体积内。我们通过计算此类双星在NANOGrav阵列中将引发的总信噪比(S/N)对潜在SMBHBs按引力波可探测性排序。我们对216个假想双星的质量啁啾与质量比施加了约束。对于19个星系,仅允许质量极不相等的双星,其伴星质量小于主星的10%,大致与对银河系中SMBHB的约束相当。此外,我们得以排除其中若干星系由主并合(质量比至少1/4)送来的双星。我们还首次给出了仅基于引力波数据的主并合送来双星密度的限制。
