用于COMPASS RICH-1升级的基于MPGD的光子探测器

摘要
在RD26合作中利用MWPC中的CsI固态光阴极实现RICH应用单光子气体探测器开创性工作,以及为CERN SPS的COMPASS实验RICH探测器进行建造之后,我们于2016年采用基于MPGD技术的新型气体光子探测器对COMPASS RICH进行了升级。为应对COMPASS物理项目极具挑战的效率和稳定性要求,安装了四台新型光子探测器,总有效面积达1.5~m。它们是MPGD基单光子探测器在实验中的首次应用。介绍了升级的各个方面,包括工程、批量生产、质量评估和性能。也指出了气体单光子探测器领域的进一步发展前景。
