Borexino探测器的蒙特卡洛模拟

我们描述了Borexino探测器的蒙特卡洛(MC)模拟软件包,并讨论了其输出与数据的一致性。Borexino MC从头(ab initio)模拟粒子在所有探测器组件中的能量损失,并生成由此产生的闪烁光子及其在液体闪烁体体积内的传播。该模拟考虑了光学光子的吸收、再发射和散射,并追踪它们直到被吸收或到达某个光电倍增管的光阴极。光子探测之后是对读出电子学响应的全面模拟。该算法接着详细模拟电子学链。MC使用部署在闪烁体体积内部及周围的放射性校准源收集的数据进行调谐。该模拟在100 keV到几MeV之间,以优于1%的精度重现了探测器的能量响应、与中微子物理相关的可信闪烁体体积内的均匀性,以及探测到光子的时间分布。为模拟Borexino探测器所开发的技术及其精细程度可能引起中微子界,特别是当前和未来的大体积液体闪烁体实验(如Kamland-Zen、SNO+和Juno)的兴趣。
