与通常仅在轨道空间中考虑3d离子化合物的Jahn-Teller定理相反，我们指出它必须在自旋-轨道空间中考虑。尽管原子内自旋-轨道耦合很弱。本文的直接动机是最近一篇Phys. Rev. Lett. 96 (2006) 027201论文中的错误论断，即3d6构型的高自旋t2g4eg2态不具有Jahn-Teller活性。
