陆地撞击陨石纪录中最显著的周期性主要来自于人类信号：为陨石年龄分配整数值的偏差。这一偏差似乎已被主张和反对者所忽视，以及寻求类星体解释此类周期性的理论家。当在寻找陆地重大彗星或小行星撞击与物种大灭绝相联系的科学家中，应严格考虑这一人类信号。
