哈勃空间望远镜星团超新星巡天:II. 高红移星系团中的Ia型超新星率
摘要
我们报告了利用哈勃空间望远镜(HST)星团超新星巡天在0.9 < z < 1.45的星系团中测量的Ia型超新星(SN Ia)率。这是首次在z > 0.9处探测到超新星的星团SN Ia率测量。发现8 +/- 1颗星团SN Ia,我们确定SN Ia率为0.50 +0.23-0.19(统计) +0.10-0.09(系统) SNuB (SNuB = 10^-12 SNe L_{sun,B}^-1 yr^-1)。以恒星质量为单位,这转换为0.36 +0.16-0.13(统计) +0.07-0.06(系统) SNuM (SNuM = 10^-12 SNe M_sun^-1 yr^-1)。这比z < 0.2时星团率的测量值大约增加了5 +/- 2倍。我们用幂律(正比于t^s)参数化晚期SN Ia延迟时间分布。假设星团形成红移为z_f = 3,我们的率测量结合较低红移的星团SN Ia率将s约束为-1.41 +0.47/-0.40,与场中延迟时间分布的测量结果一致。该测量总体上与“双简并”场景的预期一致,但与某些预测大延迟时间处更陡延迟时间分布的“单简并”场景模型不一致。我们通过专门计算星团红序列星系和形态早型星系中的率来检查环境依赖性和较年轻恒星种群的影响,发现结果与完整星团率相似。最后,巡天中探测到的一颗无宿主星团SN Ia的上限表明,星团内介质中的恒星比例小于0.47(95%置信度),与较低红移的测量结果一致。
