新月形沙丘作为集体现象出现,涉及在所谓的沙丘场中生成数千个沙丘。通过测量摩洛哥新月形沙丘场中沙丘的尺寸和位置,我们发现这些沙丘倾向于在空间中均匀分布,并遵循独特的尺寸分布函数。我们引入一种解析平均场方法,以表明这种经验尺寸分布源于沙丘碰撞和沙通量平衡的相互作用,这是尺寸选择的两种最简单机制。解析模型还预测了表征沙丘场的基本宏观性质之间的标度关系,即沙丘间距与沙丘尺寸分布的一阶和二阶矩。
