摘要
对z>2时代总金属产出率(\dot{\rho}_Z)和星系形成率的估计,基于在可见紫外波段(rest-frame UV)上观测到的Lyman break系统。这些观测对尘埃遮蔽极为敏感。本文阐述并细化了Meurer等人(1997)计算UV遮蔽的方法,提出新的关系式,准确地模拟局部starburst星系中尘埃对辐射的再加工。所得结果表明,在z~3时代,lambda=1600 Å的中位遮蔽因子约为10,与其他对高z \dot{\rho}_Z的约束相符。本文提出两项测试,以进一步约束这些红移下 \dot{\rho}_Z的水平。
