Malin 1 长期以来被视为原型的巨大、暗物质主导的低表面亮度星系。两项近期研究，一项基于对 VLA HI 观测数据的重新分析，另一项基于存档的哈勃 I 波段图像，为这一神秘星系及其暗物质/发光物质属性提供了新的视角。
