默奇森宽场阵列观测的154 MHz射电天空:噪声、混淆与首次源计数分析

我们分析了一张由默奇森宽场阵列(Murchison Widefield Array, MWA) 12小时观测制成的154 MHz图像,以确定噪声贡献及源计数在低至30 mJy范围内的行为。该MWA图像带宽为30.72 MHz,主波束半功率轮廓内视场为570 deg^2,分辨率为2.3 arcmin,包含13,458个高于5 sigma的源。图像中心的均方根噪声为4-5 mJy/beam。MWA计数与其他仪器的计数高度一致,且由于覆盖的天区面积,其是在30-200 mJy磁通量密度范围内迄今最精确的推导结果。利用现有最深的源计数数据,我们发现MWA图像受旁瓣混淆噪声影响,水平约3.5 mJy/beam,源于未完全剥离及图像外的源;而经典混淆在约1.7 mJy/beam处变得明显。本工作强调:(i) 需进一步改进电离层校准与去卷积成像技术以探测至经典混淆极限;(ii) 低频源计数的形状,包括朝向更低磁通量密度的任何展平,必须由更深的~150 MHz巡天确定,因其无法从高频数据直接推断。
