HAWC 与 H.E.S.S. 对银道面源的 TeV 发射观测

摘要

高海拔水切伦科夫(HAWC)天文台和高能立体系统(H.E.S.S.)是地基甚高能伽马射线领域的两个领先设备。HAWC 采用水切伦科夫探测(WCD)技术,而 H.E.S.S. 是一组成像大气切伦科夫望远镜(IACT)。因此,这两台设施在多个方面存在差异,包括观测策略、视场大小和角分辨率,导致不同的分析方法。迄今为止,尚不清楚两类设备的观测结果是否一致:最近发现的若干 HAWC 源已由 IACT 进行跟进观测,但仅在少数情况下得到确认探测。在本文中,我们更进一步,通过对 H.E.S.S. 银道面巡天数据执行新的分析(采用 HAWC 与 H.E.S.S. 间可比较的分析技术)来试图解决先前结果之间的张力。两个数据集均选取 1 TeV 以上事件,将 H.E.S.S. 的点扩散函数展宽以接近 HAWC,并采用相似的本底估计方法。这是两台设备所观测银道面的首次详细比较。H.E.S.S. 能够确认七个先前未被 IACT 探测到的 HAWC 源中四个的伽马射线发射,而其余三个的测得流量低于 H.E.S.S. 数据集的灵敏度。总体伽马射线通量上的剩余差异可由系统不确定性解释。因此,我们确认了 WCD 与 IACT 技术之间一致的伽马射线天空图景。
