利用 HAWC 优化搜寻银河系晕中的暗物质

摘要

银河系晕是间接暗物质探测的关键目标。高海拔水切伦科夫(HAWC)观测站是一个位于墨西哥中部的高能(约 300 GeV 至 >100 TeV)伽马射线探测器。HAWC 采用水切伦科夫技术运行,具有 2 sr 的宽视场和 >95% 的占空比,使其成为分析高度扩展源的理想工具。我们利用 HAWC 的这些特性以及一种为扩展源优化的新背景估计技术,探测银河系晕的大区域以寻找暗物质信号。借助该方法,我们对 10 至 100 TeV 质量区间内的暗物质湮灭和衰变设定了改进的约束。由于 HAWC 视场空间扩展很大,这些约束对银河系暗物质空间分布轮廓的不确定性具有鲁棒性。
