RS Oph 的极软 X 射线光变曲线——白矮星质量正在增加

作为 Ia 型超新星前身星候选者之一的再发新星 RS Ophiuchi 于 2006 年 2 月经历了第六次记录在案的爆发。我们报告了首次获得的极软 X 射线完整光变曲线，并提供了 X 射线数据的数值表。极软 X 射线通量在光学峰值后约 30 天出现，并持续至约 85 天，此时光学通量显示出最终下降。极软 X 射线相的如此长持续时间可以用我们的模型自然地解释，该模型认为在爆发期间，氢燃烧区下方堆积了大量的氦层，表明白矮星质量实际上正在增长。我们估算出 RS Oph 中的白矮星质量为 1.35 \pm 0.01 M_\sun，其平均增长率约为 (0.5-1) \times 10^{-7} M_\sun yr^{-1}。
