考虑了自由冷却状态下由重和轻非弹性硬球组成的二元混合物。首先，分析了参数空间中重物种的部分颗粒温度大于（或小于）轻物种的区域。接下来，研究了在质量悬殊极限下均方位速度比的渐近行为，假设混合物的参数遵循不同的标度律。可以看到，存在两类一般的状态：“正常”状态和“有序”状态，后者代表了能量均分定理的强烈破坏。
