摘要
目前正在对遥远星系（无论是密集集群还是场域）的星际文化进行快速进展。所有类型星系及其所有环境中，都出现了显著的星形成历史（甚至形态）转变，这些转变可追溯至相对较近的时期（z ~ 0.2）。本文更新于 1998 年 12 月，涵盖了来自 Hubble Deep Field 以及使用大型地面望远镜进行的深层探测的最新观测结果。
