将光学和近红外颜色-星等图的蒙特卡罗模拟与彼此进行比较。Baade 窗（l=1.0,b=-3.9）中这些 CMD 的红色水平分支的形态结构可能源于消光和来自盘内/暗带星体的年龄-金属丰度的组合。与光学（V、I）波段不同，模拟表明在近红外数据上可以实现区分金属丰度与消光。
