讨论了逻辑上健全的统计推理理论方法应具备的特征。回顾了一种满足这些准则的特定方法。可见其涉及模型选择、模型检验、先验获取、先验偏倚检验、先验-数据冲突检验，以及基于证据测度的估计与假设评估推断。一个长期存在的反常例子通过该推断方法得以解决，并被应用于一个具有相当重要性的实际问题，该分析除其他新颖方面外，还涉及相关获取算法的开发。
