我们利用Harris & Zaritsky最近发表的大麦哲伦云恒星形成历史图，研究了最年轻的Ia型超新星遗迹的所在位置。我们发现大多数Ia型遗迹与年老、贫金属的恒星族相关联，几乎没有或完全没有近期恒星形成。这包括SNR 0509-67.5，已知它起源于一次极其明亮的类似SN 1991T的事件，然而其位置远离任何恒星形成区。然而，Ia型遗迹SNR N103B与过去1亿年内剧烈的恒星形成活动有关，可能拥有一个相对更年轻、质量更大的前身星。
