星系的分光年龄与金属丰度

摘要
矮星系通常较为暗弱。为导出其年龄与金属丰度分布，优化利用所收集的每一个光子至关重要。Koleva 等人利用全光谱拟合，在一些矮椭圆星系中发现了强烈的星族梯度。本文表明，用该方法导出的星族轮廓与分光指数方法所得结果一致且更为精确，从而可在更短的望远镜观测时间内研究更暗弱的天体。
