作者先验地提出了一组简单的原则，这些原则可发展为一系列算法，用于解码 Torah。假设 Torah 是某种形式的置换密码，且具有一个不寻常的特性，即 Torah 的明文也可能是用圣经希伯来语书写的其他一份或多份文件的密文。解密原则基于等距字母序列 (Equidistant Letter Sequences, ELS) 的使用，以及消息长度、维数、欧几里得维数、拓扑、读取方向、跳跃距离和偏移量等概念。这些原则可以递归应用，并定义了 Torah 字符理论上可能的 304,807! 种排列中的众多大型子集。
