WASP-107b是一颗温暖的(~740 K)凌星行星,具有海王星般的质量(~30.5地球质量)和木星般的半径(~0.94木星半径),其延展大气正在侵蚀。此前的观测显示了WASP-107b大气中存在水蒸气和厚的高空凝聚物层的证据。最近,在一颗热的(~1200 K)土星质量行星的透射光谱中于4.05微米附近探测到了光化产生的二氧化硫(SO2),但对于低于1000 K的温度,硫预计优先形成硫同素异形体而非SO2。本文中,我们报告利用JWST的中红外仪器(MIRI)在WASP-107b的透射光谱中于7.35微米和8.69微米处对SO2两个基本振动谱带的9倍西格玛探测。该发现确立WASP-107b为第二颗具有确认光化学的受辐照系外行星,将探测到光化学的系外行星温度范围从~1200 K扩展至~740 K。此外,我们的光谱分析揭示了硅酸盐云的存在,其相较于更简单的云构型受到强烈偏好(~7倍西格玛)。进而,水被探测到(~12倍西格玛),但甲烷未被探测到。这些发现提供了非平衡化学的证据,并表明这是一个具有超太阳金属丰度的动力学活跃大气。
