摘要
电子离子对撞机(EIC)是由美国能源部计划在纽约长岛布鲁克海文国家实验室建造的粒子加速器设施。EIC 将提供极化电子束与极化质子及轻离子束对撞的能力。EIC 将是全球最大、最复杂的新加速器设施之一,也是未来几十年美国计划建造的唯一大型新加速器设施。EIC 的通用性、分辨能力与强度将带来许多新机遇,以解决粒子物理中一些关键且基本的开放性科学问题。本文从高能物理界视角概述 EIC 的科学目标。
