CDMS II 最终曝光的硅探测器暗物质结果

摘要

我们报告了利用 CDMS II 实验的硅探测器搜寻弱相互作用大质量粒子(WIMPs)的结果。这项对 2007 年 7 月至 2008 年 9 月期间采集的 140.2 kg-days 数据的盲分析揭示了三个 WIMP 候选事件,其表面事件背景估计为 0.41^{+0.20}_{-0.08}(stat.)^{+0.28}_{-0.24}(syst.)。来自中子和 206Pb 的其他已知背景在 90% 置信水平下分别被限制为 < 0.13 和 < 0.08 个事件。对于质量为 10 GeV/c2 的 WIMP,在 7-100 keV 的反冲能范围内,该分析的曝光量相当于 23.4 kg-days。已知背景在信号区产生三个或更多事件的概率为 5.4%。对这三个事件进行包含测量反冲能的轮廓似然比检验,在与备择的 WIMP+背景假设进行比较时,已知背景-only 假设的概率为 0.19%。最大似然出现在 WIMP 质量为 8.6 GeV/c2 且 WIMP-核子截面为 1.9e-41 cm2 时。
