蟹状星云软 X 射线偏振的再探测及其可能的时间变化

摘要

蟹状星云是迄今唯一在软 X 射线偏振测量中具有统计显著探测的天体,这一窗口自 1970 年代以来未在天文学中被探索。然而,软 X 射线偏振测量有望成为包括旋转驱动脉冲星与脉冲星风星云在内高能天体物理对象中磁场的灵敏探针。在此我们报道,利用搭载于 CubeSat 上采用新颖技术的微型偏振计 PolarLight,在时隔 40 年后从蟹状星云与脉冲星重新探测到软 X 射线偏振。观测到蟹状星云在脉冲导通相的偏振度在 2019 年 7 月 23 日蟹状脉冲星 glitch 后下降,而纯星云发射的偏振度在不确定度内保持恒定。该现象可能持续约 100 天。若 glitch 与偏振变化之间的关联能被未来观测确认,将对脉冲星高能发射与 glitch 的物理机制施加强约束。
