相对论性喷流是以光速的相当大比例运动的等离子体流。它们已在恒星级黑洞（ $\sim$ 3 $-$ 20 太阳质量，M $_\odot$ ）以及位于大多数星系中心的超大质量黑洞（ $\sim$ 10 $^6$ $-$ 10 $^9$ M $_\odot$ ）中被观测到。喷流也应由中等质量黑洞（ $\sim$ 10 $^2$ $-$ 10 $^5$ M $_\odot$ ）产生，尽管直到最近关于这第三类黑洞的证据还很微弱。我们报告了在中等质量黑洞候选体 ESO 243-49 HLX-1 位置探测到的瞬变射电辐射，这与离散喷流抛射事件一致。这些观测还使我们能够将黑洞的质量估计修正为介于 $\sim$ 9 $\times$ 10 $^{3}$ M $_\odot$ 和 $\sim$ 9 $\times$ 10 $^{4}$ M $_\odot$ 之间。
