根据八面体点群的不可约表示对Tb2Ti2O7中Tb3+离子的低能集体角动量态进行了分类。讨论了交换相互作用引起的简并提升。计算了每个集体角动量态的弥散中子散射强度图案，并通过与实验比较推断出基态。
