利用 H.E.S.S. 观测探测 GW170817 抛射流中的磁场

摘要

首次探测到双中子星(BNS)并合遗迹 GW170817 的电磁对应体,确立了短 γ\gamma-射线暴与 BNS 并合之间的联系。它也通过 r-过程核合成确认了抛射物中重元素的锻造(所谓千新星)。非热射电与 X 射线辐射的出现,以及持续逾 100 天的增亮,在某种程度上出乎意料。当前理论模型试图将此时间行为解释为源自相对论性偏轴喷流或类千新星抛射流。无论哪种情形,关于多少能量被输送到非热电子与发射区的磁场之间均存在模糊性。将 VLA(射电)与 Chandra(X 射线)测量同 GeV-TeV 能段的观测相结合,可有助于打破该模糊性,且几乎与所假设发射起源无关。在此,我们首次报告在 BNS 并合后 124 至 272 天使用完整 H.E.S.S. 望远镜阵列对 GW170817 / GRB 170817A 的深 H.E.S.S. 观测,以及使用升级后 H.E.S.S. 相位-I 望远镜对瞬时(<5 天)观测的更新分析。我们讨论了 H.E.S.S. 测量在不同源情形下对磁场的意义。
