分析PTA数据的实用方法:六颗脉冲星下的宇宙弦

摘要

我们利用欧洲脉冲星计时阵列(EPTA)数据发布2(DR2)中的六颗毫秒脉冲星,搜寻由宇宙弦网络产生的随机引力波背景(SGWB)。我们进行了贝叶斯分析,考虑了宇宙弦环网络的两种模型,并将其与源自超大质量黑洞双星群体的简单幂律模型比较。我们的主要强假设是,先前报道的共红噪声过程为SGWB。我们发现,由于其简洁性,单参数宇宙弦模型比幂律模型略受青睐。如果我们假设数据中存在双分量随机信号(超大质量黑洞双星群体与宇宙弦信号),则对我们考虑的两种宇宙弦模型,得到弦张力的95%上限为log10(Gμ)<9.9\log_{10}(G\mu) < -9.910.5-10.5)。在扩展的双参数弦模型中,我们无法约束扭折数目。我们针对最严格的分析测试了两种近似且快速的贝叶斯数据分析方法,得到了相一致的结果。这两种快速高效的方法适用于所有SGWB,与源无关,并将对扩展数据集的分析至关重要。
