引力波观测中虚假广义相对论违例的可能原因

摘要

广义相对论(GR)自提出以来已被证明是一个极为成功的引力理论。该理论成功通过了大量实验检验,主要是在弱引力、低相对速度和线性区域,但也包括通过双脉冲星进行的强场和极低速区域检验。可观测的引力波(GWs)源自时空中引力极强的区域,这使其成为一种独特的工具,用于在以往无法触及的大曲率、相对论性速度和强引力区域检验GR。自首次探测以来,引力波已被广泛用于检验GR,但迄今未发现任何偏离。鉴于GR在解释当前天文观测和实验室实验方面取得的巨大成功,接受任何对它的偏离都需要极高的统计置信度,并且该偏离需在多个引力波源中表现出一致性。本文汇编了一份可能导致在当前和未来地基引力波探测器的GR标准检验数据中错误识别GR违例的潜在原因清单。这些原因包括探测器噪声、信号重叠、数据间隙、探测器校准、源模型不准确、源及背景环境模型中缺失的物理过程、源错误识别以及天体物理种群建模错误。我们还粗略估计了在不同探测器灵敏度下,这些原因各自何时将对GR检验变得重要。我们认为,在声称引力波观测中存在GR违例之前,应彻底调查、量化并排除上述每一种原因。
