PDRs4All III:JWST对猎户座条形结构的近红外光谱观测

(删节版)我们研究大质量恒星的辐射反馈对其母云的影响,聚焦于从HII区到原子PDR的过渡(跨越电离前沿(IF)),以及随后到分子PDR的过渡(跨越解离前沿(DF))。作为PDRs4All JWST早期释放科学计划的一部分,我们使用JWST上NIRSpec的高分辨率近红外积分场光谱数据观测猎户座条形PDR。NIRSpec数据揭示了一片谱线森林,包括但不限于HeI、HI和CI复合线、离子线、OI和NI荧光线、芳香红外带(AIBs,含芳香CH、脂肪族CH及其CD对应物)、CO2冰、H2的纯转动与转振线,以及HD、CO和CH+的转振线,其中大多数系首次在PDR中探测到。它们的空间分布解析了Huygens区域的H与He电离结构,增进了对条形结构几何的认识,并证实了PDR的大尺度分层。我们观测到众多更小尺度结构,其典型尺寸随距Ori C距离增加而减小;若CI的红外谱线仅源自辐射复合与级联,则揭示出极高气体温度,与PDR深处小尺度致密团块受热辐照表面一致。H2谱线揭示多条呈现不同特征的显著细丝,给人以从以原子为主的表面区到更深处富CO分子区呈“阶梯状”过渡的印象。本研究展示了JWST所开创的发现空间,以深化我们对年轻恒星辐射影响其母分子云与原行星盘的理解,这涉及恒星与行星形成以及星系演化。
