对在2000年7-8月期间，对Arcturus（Alpha Boo）进行的宽场红外探测器（WIRE）卫星上的星轨观测进行分析。幅值谱在低频率处显著增加了能量。最高峰位于约4.1微赫兹（2.8天），这与此前基于地面径向速度观测的结果一致。Arcturus的变性可以用声波来解释，但尚不清楚这些声波是 coherent p模振荡还是单个寿命较短的模。
