Marigo 等人 (2007) 对不同质量和金属丰度的 TP-AGB 星演化轨迹的最新计算已被 incorporated 到 Bruzual & Charlot 的演化人口合成模型中。从 HUDF 中 z 从 1 到 3 的星系 spectro-photometric 数据拟合所确定的星系在该范围内的星际质量，低于由 BC03 模型所确定的质量，低于 50%至 80%。推断得到的这些星系的年龄除例外情况外，均为 BC03 估计值的 40%至 60%。
