下行地面伽马射线闪现起源的观测

摘要

在本文中,我们报道了由大面积望远镜阵列宇宙线天文台探测到的下行定向地面伽马射线闪现(TGFs)的首次近距离高分辨率观测,这些观测是与对母体放电的宽带 VHF 干涉仪和快电场变化测量联合获得的。结果表明,TGFs 发生在负地闪和低高度云内闪最初几毫秒内的强初始击穿脉冲(IBPs)期间,并且 IBPs 由一种新识别的基于流光的放电过程——快速负击穿产生。观测表明,负责产生 TGFs 的相对论逃逸电子雪崩(RREAs)由快速流光系统内嵌入的类火花瞬态导电事件(TCEs)引发,也可能由单个快速流光本身引发。TCEs 被推断为经典 IBP 球面闪电特征性脉冲亚脉冲的成因。雪崩的进一步发展将由快速负击穿推进前沿前方的增强电场促进。除了揭示 IBPs 及其神秘亚脉冲的性质外,观测还为未解决的流光到先导转换如何在初始负击穿期间发生的问题提供了解释,即作为连续 IBPs 最后阶段中强电流流经 IBP 自身及 IBP 前的负流光击穿并向后延伸的结果。
