我们研究由无序系统中不同局部序之间的竞争所引发的非均匀态及可能的玻璃性。无论是在 Ginzburg-Landau 理论还是简单场论中，这些非均匀态都源于竞争序参数之间的负梯度项。我们讨论了将这些思想应用于多种强相关系统的可能性。
