NGC922 - 一颗新的穿透环形星系

摘要

我们通过多波段(紫外-射电)成像和光谱观测发现,异常星系NGC922为新的穿透环形星系。其'C'形形貌和潮汐臂表明其与伴星进行了强烈的相互作用,这些观测已识别了这一点。通过数值模拟,我们证明该系统的主要特性可由小星系与更大盘状星系进行高速离轴碰撞产生,从而使NGC922成为已知的最近碰撞环形星系之一。尽管这些系统在本地宇宙中较为罕见,但最近的深HST图像表明它们在早期宇宙中更为常见。
