我们提出了一种新的自动技术，基于主成分分析和聚类分析，旨在应用于识别那些可能代表星际形成区域的未解析星系中的簇。我们通过对 M~31 星系应用该方法进行测试，该星系已有多套基于分辨星星的多颜色图像所识别的 OB 关联。我们使用 M~31 的小尺度数字图像，并将我们检测到的关联与之前发布的大尺度数据进行比较，发现结果相当良好。我们对我们识别的结果与原始 van den Bergh (1964) 识别中最紧凑的关联实现了严格的一致性。随后我们将该技术应用于更远距离的螺旋星系 NGC~2903，识别出 68 个 OB 关联候选对象。
