反中微子与碳氢化合物反应的中子测量

摘要

利用 MINERvA 探测器中碳氢化合物闪烁体上的带电流反中微子相互作用来研究其末态中子的活动。为确保大多数中子来自初级相互作用而非探测器中的强子再相互作用,样本限制为动量转移低于 0.8 GeV/c。在 16,129 次相互作用中,观测到 15,246 个中性粒子候选者。参考模拟预测这些候选者中有 64% 直接来自反中微子相互作用产生的中子,但总体上将候选者数量高估了 15%,这超出了中微子相互作用模型及探测器内中子传播的标准不确定性估计。利用测得的能量沉积、飞行时间、位置和速度分布,我们探究了其对这两方面模型细节的敏感性。我们还利用多重数分布来评估双核子敲出过程的存在。这些结果为完整描述中微子相互作用的强子末态提供了关键的新信息,而这对中微子振荡实验至关重要。
