摘要
nuSTORM 设施旨在通过中心动量为 3.8 GeV/c、动量展宽为 10% 的储存缪子束流的衰变,提供电子中微子和缪子中微子束流。该设施的独特性在于它将:通过以百分级精度测量电子中微子和缪子中微子与原子核的截面,服务于未来的长基线和短基线中微子振荡计划;允许进行具有极高灵敏度的惰性中微子搜索;并作为增量发展缪子加速器这一粒子物理强大新技术的关键第一步。在世界上的质子加速器实验室中,只有 CERN 和 FNAL 具备实施 nuSTORM 所需的基础设施。由于尚未做出选址决定,本意向书 (EoI) 的目的是请求所需资源,以:详细调查如何在 CERN 实施 nuSTORM;并为 nuSTORM 设施及实验计划开发欧洲决定性贡献的选项,无论该设施建于何处。该 EoI 定义了一个为期两年的计划,最终交付一份技术设计报告。
