过去十年迎来了宇宙微中子作为一种探索宇宙最极端环境的新信使的兴起。IceCube 于 2013 年宣布的宇宙微中子发现测量开辟了一个新的观测窗口,已带来新的基础信息,有望回答与高能宇宙相关的关键问题,包括:PeV 天空中的源是什么以及它们如何驱动粒子加速;极端能量宇宙射线产生于何处,它们经由何种路径穿越宇宙;以及在 TeV-PeV 及以上能量是否存在新物理的 signatures?未来十年中微子望远镜阵列的计划进展,加上广义多信使天体物理学的持续进步,有望将宇宙微中子领域从发现时代提升至精密时代,并对中微子天空中的源进行巡测。IceCube 中微子天文台的计划探测器升级,最终达成 IceCube-Gen2(一个设想中的 $400M 设施,预计在下个十年运行,本白皮书中有描述),将是推动中微子天体物理测量演进的基石。
