μ子氢级联时间和短寿命$2S$态的寿命

摘要

亚稳态2S{2S}μ子氢原子经历碰撞2S{2S}猝灭,其速率强烈依赖于μp\mu p动能是高于还是低于2S2P{2S}\to {2P}能量阈值。在阈值以上,允许碰撞2S2P{2S} \to {2P}激发随后快速辐射2P1S{2P} \to {1S}退激发。相应的短寿命μp(2S)\mu p ({2S})组分在0.6 hPa H2\mathrm{H}_2室温气体压力下测量,寿命τ2Sshort=16529+38\tau_{2S}^\mathrm{short} = 165 ^{+38}_{-29} ns(即,在液氢密度下λ2Squench=7.91.6+1.8×1012s1\lambda_{2S}^\mathrm{quench} = 7.9 ^{+1.8}_{-1.6} \times 10^{12} \mathrm{s}^{-1})和布居数ϵ2Sshort=1.700.56+0.80\epsilon_{2S}^\mathrm{short} = 1.70^{+0.80}_{-0.56} %(每个μp\mu p原子)。此外,还发现了μp\mu p级联时间Tcasμp=(37±5)T_\mathrm{cas}^{\mu p} = (37\pm5) ns的值。
