质子俘获μ子的精确测量

摘要
MuCap实验的目标是以1%的精度测量基本电弱反应μ + p → n + ν_μ的单态俘获率Λ_S。该可观测量对核子的弱形状因子敏感,尤其是对诱导赝标量耦合常数g_P。它将为基于标准模型和QCD有效场论的理论预言提供严格的检验。目前的方法基于对氢气中μ^-寿命的高精度测量以及与自由μ^+寿命的比较。μ^-实验将在10 bar的超纯、贫氘H_2气体中进行。选择相对于液态H_2更低的密度是为了避免因ppμ形成带来的不确定性。一个时间投影室作为纯氢有源靶,它定义了μ子停止位置的三维坐标并探测罕见的本底反应。衰变电子由覆盖4π立体角75%的圆柱形线室和闪烁体阵列进行追踪。
