摘要

多相天文学揭示Virgo环境 (MAUVE) 项目是一个多设施计划,探索稠密环境如何改变星系的形态。该项目结合了VLT/MUSE P110大型计划和ALMA对40个晚型Virgo星系簇的观测,使我们能够在其分子气体盘内解析星形成、运动学和化学富集。其关键目标是跟踪进入簇内卫星星系后,仍存活于其内侧区域的冷气体的演化,以及其在不同掉落阶段的演化方式。凭借其高空间分辨率——可探测到巨型分子云复合体的物理尺度——以及多相协同作用,MAUVE旨在为环境淬灭提供时间分辨视图,并为星系簇研究树立新基准。
