SABRE PoP背景的蒙特卡洛模拟

摘要

SABRE(Sodium-iodide with Active Background REjection,主动背景排斥碘化钠)是一项基于放射性纯NaI(Tl)晶体阵列并包围以液体闪烁体 veto 的直接暗物质搜寻实验。南北半球的双子SABRE实验将区分暗物质信号与季节性和局地效应。该实验目前处于原理验证(PoP)阶段,其目标是证明背景计数率足够低,以开展独立的暗物质信号搜寻,并在随后的全规模实验阶段具备确认或反驳DAMA结果的足够灵敏度。来自探测器材料和实验场地的背景辐射影响需要仔细研究,包括本征和宇宙射线活化放射性。基于对相关背景源的最佳认知,我们进行了详细的蒙特卡洛研究,评估暗物质搜寻能谱区内的预期背景。本文所描述的模拟模型指导全规模实验的设计,并将对测量背景的解释以及进而对可能暗物质信号的提取起到基础性作用。
