我们研究了在由大型语言模型（LLM）驱动的虚拟现实（VR）环境中的虚拟代理进行自由形式对话时，如何缓解响应延迟的挑战。为此，我们使用对话填充词（如手势和语音提示），在用户输入与系统响应之间建立桥接作用，并评估其在各种延迟水平和交互情境下的效果。我们发现，延迟超过4秒会降低用户体验质量，而自然的对话填充词能够改善感知到的响应时间，尤其在高延迟条件下效果更为显著。我们的发现为从业者和研究者提供了洞见，帮助其在因网络限制或硬件性能较差而导致系统响应延迟时优化用户参与度。我们还贡献了一个开源管道，简化了在虚拟环境中部署对话代理的流程。
