6.5至 11 GeV 区间总 Compton 散射截面的测量

摘要

我们测量了原子电子上 Compton 散射的总截面,γ+eγ+e\gamma+e\rightarrow\gamma'+e',使用能量在 6.5至 11.1 GeV 之间的光子照射 9^9Be 靶标,作为位于 Jefferson Lab Hall D 的 PrimEx-eta 实验的一部分。这一工作是在该能量范围内对该基本 QED 过程的首次测量。该截面的总不确定性在所有能量区间以平方根方式合并统计与系统误差后,平均为 3.4%。这不仅展示了该实验装置在前向角度上执行精确截面测量的能力,也使我们能够与最先进的 QED 计算进行比较。
