SuperKEKB 对撞机上 Belle II 实验中已测量与预测的束流本底

摘要

SuperKEKB 正负电子对撞机上的 Belle II 实验旨在收集前所未有的 50 ab150~{\rm ab}^{-1} 数据集,以研究 BB 介子系统中的 CPCP 破坏并寻找超越标准模型的新物理。SuperKEKB 已是全球亮度最高的对撞机。为在约十年内收集到计划数据集,目标是通过进一步增大束流电流并将相互作用点的束流尺寸压缩至 βy=0.3 mm\beta^{*}_{\rm y}=\rm 0.3~mm(通过把 betatron 函数挤压实现)来达到 6×1035 cm2s1\rm 6 \times 10^{35}~cm^{-2}s^{-1} 的峰值亮度。为确保探测器寿命并保持良好重建性能,束流本底必须处于受控状态。我们报告了 Belle II 中当前的本底率,并将其与模拟进行比较。我们发现近期若干改进已显著提升本底模拟精度。最后,我们估算了未来的安全裕度。我们预测,在 βy=0.6 mm\beta^{*}_{\rm y}=\rm 0.6~mm 下,直到亮度至少达到 2.8×1035 cm2s1\rm 2.8 \times 10^{35}~cm^{-2}s^{-1} 之前,本底虽高但可接受。此时,Belle II 中最脆弱的探测器——飞行时间粒子鉴别系统(TOP)和中心漂移室(CDC)——来自单束流与亮度本底的预测击中率之和约为最大可接受率的一半。
