利用次级强子相互作用测绘 LHCb 顶点探测器中的材料分布

摘要
精确了解 LHCb 顶点探测器(VELO)中材料的位置,对于减少寻找长寿命奇异粒子时的本底以及识别源自 beauty 夸克和 charm 夸克的喷流至关重要。利用束流-气体碰撞中产生的强子的次级相互作用,可以测绘 VELO 中的材料位置。利用该材料分布图,连同重建次级顶点及其组成径迹的性质,可以对次级顶点源自材料相互作用的假设赋予一个 值。本文利用光子转化为双缪子的过程对该流程进行了验证。
