利用Herschel/SPIRE绘制星系中的星际介质

通过观测CO 1-0谱线中的分子气体和21厘米谱线中的原子气体来绘制星系中星际介质的标准方法,目前望远镜主要局限于近邻宇宙中的星系。在这封信中,我们利用对星系M99和M100的SPIRE观测,探索了使用尘埃的连续谱发射来绘制星际介质的替代方法。我们通过测量星系中恒星形成率与气体面密度之间的关系来比较这些方法。我们发现这两种方法给出的关系具有相似的离散度,这证实了观测尘埃连续谱发射是绘制星系中星际介质的一种有前景的方法。
